Ipanema is a neighborhood located on the southern region of the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, between Leblon and Arpoador.   The beach at Ipanema became widely known by the song “The Girl from Ipanema” (”Garota de Ipanema“), written by Antonio Carlos Jobim.
